Week 21 - MLK Day Disaster

I have a dream that one day this bowling team will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all bowling team are not created equal. "

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Cleveland, the sons of former Llama Chasers will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Ohio, a state sweltering with the bad bowling, sweltering with the heat of few Llamas, will be transformed into an oasis of Llama Chasers everywhere.

I have a dream that my two little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by a Hambone but that 4 strikes in a row will be judged a Llama.

I have a dream today!

That was the famous speech that I delivered on January 16th, 2012 but unfortunately it did not inspire the team as I thought it would. The dream of a 26-2 Llama Chaser team was destroyed right from the start.

In the first game Brandon and Kevin showed some fight with 2 nice games. Brandon had clean game 223 which included a Llama and Kevin had a 211 also dropping in a Llama. Brick, Tom, and I were all under average and the onslaught was on.

Game 2 only Brandon was over average with a 190. Tom, Kevin, and I were all in the 170's and Brick rolled a 182. Brick barely avoided the skirt, needing 2 strikes in the 10th frame to avoid it which he did even with Kevin, Brandon, and Tom rooting against him. Brick also kicked the bowling ball return at one point causing a ball to fall off and roll in front of the opposition. It's always fun to see a little rage at bowling!!

The third and final game Tom and I took it upon ourselves to get a W and avoid the naked men cards from returning next week. Unfortunately 2 men can only do so much on a 5 man team. Tom and I bowled a nice friends-stay-together 225, mine included my 15th Llama on the year. Apparently Brandon, Brick, and Kevin missed our naked friends as each bowled well under average and we lost.

So with a painful 0-7 on the night the 26-2 dream has turned into a not so pretty 19-9. This week could be a make or break week. My only concern is my teammates might be a little too focused on the "hard wood" on the cards and not the hardwood on the lanes. I hope I'm wrong but unfortunately I know my teammates a little to well.
