Week 3 - The Climb Part 2 - Mountain Get Out of My Way

Llama Chaser Nation I would like to use this space this week to inspire you, to give you hope when all the odds are stacked against you, to give you the ability to look into the mirror and say "The Llama Chasers were able to do it, I can too."

We strolled into week 3 with a 4-10 record and were up against Tops-n-Bottoms(yes, the strip club downtown and no, unfortunately some guys bowl for them not the strippers. Although the "Talent" has been known to stop up at the alley from time to time). Not only can Tops-n-Bottoms provide you with quality lap dances but they can bowl too. They came into this week unbeaten at 14-0.

This is where our journey begins and exactly what Miley Cyrus is taking about...

Miley let's us know "It ain't about how fast I get there..." Good, because we came out of the gates a little slow. Kevin bowled a 148, Brandon was an under average 180(but this is actually higher than we expected, we had gotten used to his 140's), Brick was also under with a 185, Ryan was solid with 7 strikes for a 187, and Tom continued his hot streak, dropping in a Llama and a 203. This added up to a loss and Tops-n-Bottoms was now 16-0 o the year.

Miley continues "The struggles I'm facing/The chances I'm taking/Sometimes might knock me down/But no, I'm not breaking." So here we were staring the unbeatable team in the face, fantasizing about the lap dances we would get after we beat them, and they "knocked(us) down" again. Kevin 156, Ryan 140, and Brandon 148 killed any hope we had in game 2. Tom again was stellar, with a 216. Brick threw a solid 198.

So here we stood, beaten, defeated, humiliated, embarrassed...Tops-n-Bottoms were now 18-0, the Llama Chasers were 4-14.

Llama Chaser Nation we could have called it a day, just forfeited. I had visions in my head of Adrian yelling to Rocky "YOU CAN'T WIN."

I can't speak for the rest of the "men" on my team but it was Miley Cyrus that got me through that dark time.

"I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
"You'll never reach it"

Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high"

So that is what we did, we kept the Llama's head held high and do you know what happened?? We won, ummmmm, I mean we TIED the last game. But you know what that means, we WON 1 point. Tops-n-Bottoms are now 20-1. Be proud Llama Chaser Nation knowing it was us that took them down. Brandon 215 and Brick 221 led the way but know this would not have been possible if Ryan did not bowl exactly 153.

Some of the more avid readers may say I have used this Miley Cyrus analogy before and it is kind of lame to use it again. To those of you out there that feel that way, I feel sorry for you. Miley Cyrus inspires me almost everyday so I don't think it is that unlikely that she could inspire a bowling team twice in 2 years.

If you get nothing else from this lesson just remember "The Llama Chasers were able to do it, I can too."
